Rural roads carpeted

The Economic Development Ministry has released Rs 3,020 million to carpet rural roads in nine electorates in the Kegalle district.

Under this programme, 13 roads will be carpeted in the Ruwanwella electorate.

They are Walgampatha road which has a distance of 4.9 km from Galapitamada to Dunumala, a stretch of 1.9 km from Pethangoda to Kiwuldeniya, Imbulana Gonagaldeniya road covering a distance of 2.5 km, Katalugodakanda Lenagala road which has a stretch of 1.5 km, Anguruwella Galapatha road upto Ruwanwella border which has a stretch of 1.8 km, Pamankada Mahadeniya road with a stretch of 1.6 km, Humbaswalana Dannoruwa road with a distance of 2.5 km, Amithirigala Pallekanugala road with a distance of 1.1 km, Gonagaldeniya Mahakanda road with a distance of 2.2 km, Mahalla road with a distance of 1.5 km, North Gonagala road from Ambagalanga with a distance of 1.5 km, Arupolamulla Kadadara road with a distance of 1.5 km and Imbulgoda Narangastenne road with a distance of 1.4 km.

A total distance of 25.9 km will be carpeted at a cost of Rs 259 million.

The roadwork will be completed before the end of this year, Kegalle district secretary Thusitha P Wanigasinghe said.
