9th TRR Rajan 20/20 Cricket Tournament in September

T.R.R. Rajan annual 20/20 cricket carnival organized by the Rotary Club of Kandy (RI District 3220) and sponsored by Sun Match Co., will be held on Sunday, August 18th at the Nittawella Grounds commencing from 8.30 a.m.

This is one of the major sporting events of the Rotarains and Rotaract clubs in the country.

Tournament

In this tournament there will be two six-aside tournaments, one for the Rotarian and the other for the Rotaract Club.

The winners will receive the T.R.R. Rajan memorial trophy and there will be also be awards for Best Batsman, Bowler, Fielder, man of the tournament and the best dressed team, for both Rotarians and Rotaract clubs.

Registration forms

Registration forms have been posted to all clubs, and they are requested to confirm their participation by September 10. There is no entry fee.

This will be the 9th tournament organized in memory of one of the great Rotarians, who kept the club going in Kandy. there was no Rotary activities without him.

Sporting field

TRR was a well known figure in Kandy, specially in the sporting field. He was a fine athlete at Trinity College and later went to India for higher studies.

He was the first sponsor of Kandy Sports Club rugger team in 1992 and also helped the Old Trinitians rugger team.

His father late P.T. Rajan was the man who introduced Hockey to Kandy.

This time the organizing committee headed by the newly elected President Col Lenord de Alwis together with others are going all out to make this tournament a colourful and a memorable one.
