Doyen of cinematography Lal Wickramarachchi passes away

Lal Wickramarachchi, Founding director of Sri Lanka's only ICT TV Programme, 'Nenapiyasa', passed away on Friday 05 instant.

As a cinematographer, Wickramarachchi won several awards for his contribution to Sinhala movies such as 'Viragaya' 'Bawa Duka', 'Wathsala Akka' and 'Bawa Karma'. His latest professional engagement was with "Ekamath Eka Rataka" the Sinhala film released in Sri Lanka in January 2011. Wickramarachchi also excelled in the production of Tele-dramas. His tele-dramas, 'Kadulla' and 'A-9', won several awards.

During his tenure of office of President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, Wickramarachchi worked as a consultant to the President's Media Division.

The funeral of late Lal Wickramarachchi, will take place on Sunday (07), at Pallewala, Boorukgamuawa in Veyangoda.
