STF busts vehicle racket

The Police Special Task Force arrested two persons in Panadura on Wednesday after they were found to be engaged in illegal vehicle business depriving the government’s revenue by millions in rupees.

ASP PJ Sylvester Wijesinghe of the STF stated that the STF seized three luxury vehicles, a Trooper jeep, Defender and a Pajero all worth more than Rs 30 million from the two suspects possession.

He added that the revenue that the government was deprived of by means of tax would be around Rs 20 million.

The STF found out that the suspects, a female from Watabagaya, Hirana, Panadura and a male from Cinnamon Garden, Watabagaya also from Panadura had been engaged in the trade for a long period and had sold a number of such vehicles in this fashion.
