Religion differentiates humans and animals. It brings spiritual
satisfaction and helps develop self-confidence, said Fisheries and
Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne.
The minister was addressing a special ceremony held at St Anne's
Church in Beruwala to welcome Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith. Religious
leaders have worked towards spreading peace in the world and build
comraderie among people, he added.
"We have had only two Cardinals in Sri Lanka. Malcolm Cardinal
Ranjith is the second. His visit to Beruwala is a historical event," the
minister said.
The foundation stone laying ceremony for a community hall in Beruwala
was also held. It was built under the International Fund For Agriculture
Development project which operates under the Fisheries and Aquatic
Resources Development Ministry. |
