‘Govt will ensure language rights’
The government is committed to fill the existing vacancies requiring
Tamil officers in government institutes to ensure the language rights of
all citizens, said National Languages and Social Integration Minister
Vasudeva Nanayakkara.
The minister was speaking at a programme on ‘People’s Movement for
Bilingual Social Activity’, organized by the National Languages and
Social Integration Ministry in Badulla recently.
The minister said Sinhala and Tamil languages are official languages
in the country. Therefore, trained bilingual officers must render an
efficient and satisfactory service for the public.
The people can complain about the infringement of language rights to
the State Language Commission, supreme court, magistrate court ombudsman
and the Human Rights Commission, the minister added. |
