Parents honoured at Uttama pooja

A Demapiya Uttama Pooja programme organized by ingiriya Sri Sumunajothi College Principal Janaki Aberathna was held at the school auditorium recently.

Ven. Wewala Seelarathana thera addressing the gathering said that children’s hearts must be cultivated by righteous values. “Today mothers kill their new born babies. Fathers hurt their babies after taking liquor. Such parents are a threat to the society,” the thera said.

On the other hand, some children today treat their pets better than their parents, he said adding “when children go in big vehicles they let their parents go to the highway.”

Over 4,000 parents and children participated for the event.

The students worshiped their parents and it was an emotional event for both parties.

The children also fed their parents milk rice.
