Roads carpeting project in Central Province

A stretch of 7,380 metres of road in the plantation areas in the
central hill country will be carpeted under a new project.
The cost of the project is Rs 200 million. The proposed project
includes carpeting roads, improvement of pavements, bridges, drainage
systems and replacement of culverts of the roads. The project will be
launched by Ports and Highways Deputy Minister Nirmala Kothalawela under
the directions of President Mahinda Rajapaksa to benefit the people of
the plantation sector.
A stretch of 2,460 metres of road from the Glan Mora estate in
Thalawakele to the Thalawakele Police station will be carpeted while a
stretch of 2,460 metres of road from Rahanwatta in Lindula to the
Lindula Police station will be carpeted, both at a cost of Rs.50
million.
A stretch of 2,460 metres of road from the Kandapola Police station
to the Cotledge road will be carpeted at a cost of Rs.50 million.
Also, 50 roads in the Dikoya area will be carpeted at a cost of Rs.50
million. The length of one road is 250 metres with an eight feet width.
The project is being implemented under the supervision of the Road
Development Authority. |
