Iraq to support SL's economic development programme

The government of Iraq has pledged the continuous support towards Sri
Lanka's ongoing economic development programme.
The pledge had been conveyed to Prime Minister D M Jayaratne when
visiting Iraq Deputy Foreign Minister Seyyed Amir Mansour Borghel,
called on him at Visumpaya, Colombo on Thursday evening.
During discussions, the Iraqi Deputy Foreign Minister said the
housing project costing US $ 1.5 million, had been set up at Kattankudy
in Batticaloa which stood out as a movement of the Iraqi government's
co-operation towards Sri Lanka.
The project consisting of 70 houses, a mosque and children's park
will be officially handed over to the Sri Lanka government by the Iraqi
Deputy Minister today. |
