Medal winning soldier dies of electrocution

A soldier attached to the Settikulama army camp was electrocuted
while attending to an emergency repair in the camp on Wednesday night.
The victim was identified as S M R Samaraweera, 35, a resident of
Andagala village in Galewela.
He had been attached to the 22nd Sinha Regiment of the Sri Lankan
army and had participated in many operations during the conflict and had
won eight medals for his bravery.
He was a father of three sons. His cremation takes place today. |
