Allround performances by Nadeera

Sri Jayawardanapura Maha Vidyalaya registered a convincing three wicket win over Padukka Piyarathana Vidyalaya in their under- 15 cricket match played at their home ground recently.

R. M. Nadeera Lakshan’s superb bowling spell of 3 for 41 helped the winners to restrict their opponents for 225/9 in 50 overs. He also displayed an excellent batting show and scored 91 runs for his team.

H. D. M. Keerthi made the highest individual score (41 runs) for Piyarathana Vidyalaya while S. S.V. Thiththagalage and K. S. Sampath added 37 and 26 runs respectively for the losers. T.C. Hettiarachchi picked 2 for 41 while L. R. C. Perera grabbed 2 for 53 to tame the Piliyandala Vidyalaya batting attack.

In contrast Sri Jayawardanepura Maha Vidyalaya reached the target by sacrificing seven wickets. Apart from Nadeera’s fine knock D. H. G Kosala Lakmal added 29 runs and L R. C. Perera scored 25 runs for the winning total. Only bowler who posed a threat to the victorious team was A. R. Abeykoon but could not received a good back up from his fellow bowlers. Abeykoon removed three batsmen out of 40 runs.
