culinary skills of local chefs, the 14th battle of the chefs or else
known as ‘Culinary Art 2011’ Food and Hospitality trade show is all set
to unravel today to the public at the BMICH premises. Starting from
today July 29 the exhibition will go on till August 1.
Fourteenth time into running, this year’s show comes with many
innovations. For the first time ever, the fresh school leavers are given
the chance to catch the essence of the exhibition.
They have been given an exclusive opportunity to work alongside
hoteliers. At the same time housewives are also given a chance to
participate for the ‘Astra Cake Challenge Trophy’.
The annual event was first initiated in 1988 with the participation
of 75 competitors. But the show has grown up in stature to an extent
that more than thousand entries have been registered to participate for
this year’s event.
As many as 1,300 entries have been submitted to this year’s show. The
show will also feature ninety four hotels from all over the island
tackling with each other for the coveted trophies.
Thirty two trophies in all will be given according to various
categories. Major awards include Most Outstanding Hotel Team, the Most
Outstanding Culinary Team, the Most Outstanding Bartender Mixologist,
the Most Outstanding Artist, Most Outstanding Chef and the Most
