Ampara DSSC in record win

This could a record in junior school when D S Senanayake College Ampara registered a massive 459 run win over Namaltalawa Vidyalaya, Dehiattakandiya in their schools under 17 Division 3 cricket tournament match played at Ampara public grounds this week.

D S Senanayake College batting first made huge score of 485 for 7 50 overs. Their scoring rate was over 9 runs per over. Tharindu Umesh made an entertaining 112 with the aid of 10 fours and 2 sixes off 90 balls.

Namaltalawa Vidyalaya chasing their target of 486 to win put up woeful batting display to be dismissed for a paltry 26 in 15 overs. Six of their batsmen failed to score.

Left arm medium pacer Tharindu Umesh who opened the attack took 6 for 16 rounding off a good allround performance of 112 and 6 for 16. The other opening bowler Gehan Kavindu took 4 for 10.

D S Senanayake College 485 for 7 wickets in 50 overs, Gehan Kavindu 48, Supun Bandara 42, Dulaj Dilshan 70, Tharindu Umesh 112, Chathura Madeniya 40, Dinesh Buddhika 55, N Shehan 28 not out.

Namaltalawa Vidyalaya 26 all out in 15 over (Tharindu Umesh 6 for 16, Gehan Kavinda 4 for 10).
