President to lay foundation stone for sports complex

President Mahinda Rajapaksa will lay the foundation stone of the proposed sports complex at Kilinochchi at 2.00 pm today. The full option complex is to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 325 million in order to widen the opportunities for the youth in the area to take part in sports.

In addition, construction of ten new playgrounds for ten schools in Kilinochchi will be inaugurated. The Sports Ministry is also donating hard ball cricket equipment to 15 schools while 95 sports clubs in Kilinochchi will receive sports equipment.

The Sports Ministry will distribute track bottoms and T- shirts to 2500 youths who participated in the Kreeda Shakthi programme on the occasion.
