'Tinted rear windows in buses to be banned'

Buses with the rear windscreen tinted, would be banned from transporting commuters with effect from July 20.

Police Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody told the Daily News that buses entering Colombo with tinted rear windscreens hampering the rear sight would be banned.

He also said that transportation of commuters in other areas in such buses too would be banned in due course.

SP Jayakody further said that a law had been implemented earlier which prevented the rear windscreen being tinted, adding that private bus owners covered the rear windscreen with stickers or colorful pictures despite the law forbidding it.

But instead of taking stern action against such law breakers it has been decided to ban buses from transporting commuters.
