President invited for Asia-Pacific quantity surveyors’ summit

The Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Sri Lanka yesterday invited President Mahinda Rajapaksa for the inauguration of the 15th International Summit of Asia Pacific region quantity surveyors to be held on July 25 and 26 in Colombo.

The institute made this invitation to President Rajapaksa when its officials led by chairperson Prof Chitra Weddikkara met him at Temple Trees yesterday.

Prof Weddikkara pointed out that Sri Lanka has been selected as the venue for this mega international summit due to the peaceful environment and the economic progress achieved by the country.

Over 120 delegates representing 13 countries including Australia, New Zealand, Canada, China, Japan and Malaysia will participate in this summit.

Prof Weddikkara pointed out that there is a huge demand for graduates passing out from the Moratuwa University as quantity surveyors. She thanked the President for taking steps to double the number of students passing out from the university as quantity surveyors.

President Rajapaksa in reply added that the services of quantity surveyors passing out from the university would be obtained for the major infrastructure development projects in progress.

Institute officials pointed out that Sri Lankan quantity surveyors are recognized all over the world. They also discussed the upgrading the quality of the study courses.
