The Sri Lanka Association of Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM), partnered with the AIIA (The Australian Information Industry Association) the leading industry body for the technology sector in Australia. The objective of the coalition is to develop links between the two counties and to promote Sri Lanka as a preferred IT/ BPO destination.

SLASSCOM member companies recently took part in the Global Trade Mission held in Australia which was organized by ICTA. As a part of this mission SLASSCOM signed a Memorandum of Understanding with AIIA to collaborate and develop the IT / BPO sector in both the countries.

SLASSCOM Chairman Dinesh Saparamadu said, "The Sri Lankan IT and BPO industry is projected to grow by 26% in 2011 with export earnings estimated at US $ 390 million for 2010.

"Sri Lanka has set a target of US $ 1 billion export revenue by 2015. One of the key prerequisites for this growth to be realized is the acceleration of market access around the world. We are delighted to partner with AIIA to explore opportunities for both the nations".
