Lankan delegates meet foreign officials

The local Table Tennis officials who accompanied the Sri Lanka Junior
paddlers to the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Hopes
Tournament in Vienna, Austria have made friendly discussions with ITTF,
Werner Schlager Table Tennis Academy and Sri Lanka Embassy

in Austria regarding Sri Lanka's TT development.
The world junior TT governing body officials were impressed by the
local paddlers' performances and Sri Lanka made the highest number of
participation from a country with 20 players at the tournament.
Building a good relationship with the world authorities of the game
and a leading
training academy will be an important fore step and they have pledged
their support to uplift the standard of the sport in Sri lanka.
The meeting has been facilitated by a former Sri lankan TT Player and
a Former ITTF project manager Lilamani de Soysa. The second officer of
the Sri Lankan Embassy in Vienna Srimal Wickramasinghe and his secretary
Suranga Geeth had attended the meeting on behalf of the
Embassy while ITTF Executive Director Mikael Anderson and ITTF
project manager Glenn Tepper along with the Manager of Werner Schlager
Academy, Martin Soros were also present. Sri Lanka Table Tennis
Association (SLTTA) Vice Presidents Manzil Muthalib and Swarna Peiris
have represented SLTTA at the meeting. |
