AG appeals against HC judgement

The Royal Park murder case was called before the Court of Appeal Justice Ranjith Silva and Justice Lekamwasam and put off.

In this case Jude Amith Jayamaha was charged with the killing of Yvonne Johanneson at the Royal Park premises on July 1, 2005. Later after trial, Jayamaha was convicted on culpable homicide not amounting to murder by the Colombo High Court and imposed a sentence of 12 months RI. The Attorney General appealed against the Colombo High Court judgement and moved Court of Appeal to convict the accused for the offence of murder.

The accused also appealed against the Colombo High Court judgement to the Court of Appeal.

Deputy Solicitor General Jayantha Jayasuriya with Senior State Counsel Haripriya Jayasundera appeared for the Attorney General.

President’s Counsel Anil Silva appeared for the accused-appellant.
