LG poll: estimated 80% cast votes

The casting of postal votes for the Local Government elections took place peacefully yesterday, Election monitors said. Postal votes are being cast for 65 Local Councils island wide. The number of public workers eligible to cast their postal votes is 60,546.

It is reported that a high postal voter turnout was witnessed at the Local Government polls with monitors stating that around 80% exercised their franchise. Postal voting for LG polls will close at 4pm today.
