Chinese workers poisoned by lead
CHINA: More than 200 workers in a Chinese battery producing factory
in Changzhou, Jiangsu province have been sent to a local health
department, diagnosed with blood poisoning by lead.
Blood tests showed that over 70 of the patients had between 280 and
400 micrograms or lead in their blood though the normal level is less
than 100 micrograms, the Chinese Yangtze Evening News reports. Employees
said they decided to go for the initial tests of lead poisoning after a
co-worker fell ill. “We decided to go for the tests spontaneously
because we had heard that the company might be moving elsewhere”. Press
