Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment sleuths in collaboration with the Police have launched islandwide raids to nab rogue foreign employment agents.

The Special Investigation Unit set up for the purpose nabbed five rogue foreign employment recruiters from various parts of the country during last week. These bogus agents have been detected from areas, such as, Ratnapura, Borella, Kahawatte, Welimada and Peliyagoda, the SLBFE said.

They have taken into custody five male and one female suspect during the raids. The officers have also seized a large number of passports, forged documents etc. which were in the possession of the arrested suspects.

The arrested are to be produced in Courts.

Meanwhile, the SLBFE Chairman Kingsly Ranawaka said that the Bureau’s special investigation unit was working round the clock to nab all rogue recruiters in order to protect foreign employment aspirants from errant agents. He also vowed to take tough action against any licensed foreign employment agent who engage in malpractices.
