Six-a-side cricket champs

A six-a-side cricket tournament conducted by the Old Boys'
Association of the President's College, Kotte concluded on a grand scale
at the BRC ground recently. The tournament was conducted among their old
boys to raise funds for school's development projects.
The champion trophy was named as Let. Nalin Cooray commemoration
trophy, in memory of the first old boy army officer to killed in action
during the war. The batch of '95 became the winners by defeating the 99
batch in the final.
The 95 batch batted first and scored 85 in their innings and skittle
out the opponents for just 65 runs.
The Principal Prasad Weerasiri, former Principal M Abeysinghe, former
Vice Principal Rohini Alas and Let. Nalin Cooray's mother were among the
guests of honour.
Dheeraka Balasooriya ('95 batch) was awarded the Man of the Match
award while his teammate Janaka de Silva was picked as the Man of the
Series.
