Junior Rugby Asiad:
Lankans lose again
Sri Lanka suffered their second straight defeat as they went down to
the hosts Hong Kong 14-38 in their Asian Junior Rugby Asiad encounter
worked off in Hong Kong yesterday.
Hong Kong who were trailing 13-14 at half time came back strongly in
the second half and collected their points from three goals, one try,
three penalties and one drop goal.
Sri Lanka after their spirited performance against the defending
champions Japan failed to produce the same form and managed to score
only two tries both in the first half.
Hong Kong took the initiative while building up a 10 nil lead during
the opening 20 minutes of play through a goal and a penalty. However Sri
Lanka hit back strongly and scored twice shortly before the interval.
After the resumption Hong Kong snatched the lead once again to 19-14
while putting over a penalty and a drop goal. The home side completely
sealed the game by scoring three more tries during the latter stages of
the game.
