Junior Rugby Asiad:

Lankans lose again

Sri Lanka suffered their second straight defeat as they went down to the hosts Hong Kong 14-38 in their Asian Junior Rugby Asiad encounter worked off in Hong Kong yesterday.

Hong Kong who were trailing 13-14 at half time came back strongly in the second half and collected their points from three goals, one try, three penalties and one drop goal.

Sri Lanka after their spirited performance against the defending champions Japan failed to produce the same form and managed to score only two tries both in the first half.

Hong Kong took the initiative while building up a 10 nil lead during the opening 20 minutes of play through a goal and a penalty. However Sri Lanka hit back strongly and scored twice shortly before the interval. After the resumption Hong Kong snatched the lead once again to 19-14 while putting over a penalty and a drop goal. The home side completely sealed the game by scoring three more tries during the latter stages of the game.
