Parliamentarian U.Radhakrishnan who is also the leader of the
up-country Peoples Front said that certain local and foreign powers were
making attempts to destabilise the country, impeding the noble efforts
of President Mahinda Rajapaksa to ensure a better living for the people
and this made his party to extend its fullest cooperation to strengthen
the hands of the President.
He said that the up-country Peoples Front won 25 seats in the last
local government elections contesting independently as a party, and the
support of all those members would be extended to the President and the
government. The member also recalled that it was President Mahinda
Rajapaksa who rendered the greatest service to the people in the
plantation sector.
Radhakrishnan made these remarks when he addressed mediamen after
paying visits to the Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapter Mahanayake Theras on
June 28.
He was also of the opinion that all the problems in the devolution of
power proposals should be solved amicably prior to their implementation.
