BCC Awards in November

The Best Corporate Citizen (BCC) Awards 2011 ceremony, which is
organized by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will be held at the Cinnamon
Grand, Colombo on November 4 for the eighth consecutive year. BCC Awards
access the services of a corporate entity of private or government to
its stakeholder, customers, suppliers, shareholders, employees,
environment and community.
Each year, the Best Corporate Citizen (BCC) Awards event is organized
to promote corporate social responsibility and strategic corporate
sustainability within the business sector in Sri Lanka.
Under the BCC Awards 2011, awards will be given for sustainable
business and outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects.
Under the BCC Awards 2011, applications will be called under two
categories, category A and B.
Any enterprise from the private or public sector, including group
companies with a turnover of Rs 15 billion or over should apply under
category A. Enterprises with a turnover of less than Rs 15 billion
should apply under category B.
Awards will be presented to the top ten corporate citizens selected
from all applicants under category A and B. 'Winner and the first and
second runners up will be selected from applicants under category A and
B, top three from category B, category awards for the best performer
under each of the five categories such as environment, employee
relations, customers, supply relations, CSR, governance and economic
contribution.
Best CSR project awards will identify meaningful and outstanding CSR
projects in public and private sector institutions and will encourage
businesses that are engaged in philanthropic activities in the
community.
Projects carried out on education and training, projects in the North
and the East, health and nutrition programmes, projects to assist the
differently abled people, environmental conservation, empowering women,
infrastructure, disaster relief and rehabilitation, sports and
recreation, projects to support senior citizens, orphanages and poverty
alleviation will be entitled to apply for the best CSR project awards.
Under the CSR category, five best CSR projects will receive awards
and certificates of merit will be presented for all projects that have
achieved a high standard.
All private and public companies and government owned businesses are
eligible to apply. Holding and subsidiary companies could submit
separate applications for different projects. If a company applies for
more than one project, each project should be accompanied by a separate
application.
All applications for Best CSR projects and Best Corporate Citizen
Awards has to be submitted to Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, 50, Nawam
Mawatha, Colombo 2 on or before September 7. Applications and guidelines
