Peterites clinch under 18 rugby title

St Peter’s College, Colombo clinched the under 18 ten-a-side rugby title by beating Royal College, Colombo by 21 points (three goals) to 3 (one drop goal) in the final played at CR and FC grounds on Saturday after leading 14-3 at half time.

Royal opened scoring through a drop goal by skipper Rimzie Jamaldeen. Then the Peterites scored two superb tries through Kevin Anthony and Anuruddha Herath both of which were converted by Jerome Canute.

The only scoring in the second half came through a try by Peterite Kevin Anthony with Jerome Canute adding the extra points to give them a 21-3 win.

The Plate Championship was won by Dharmaraja College, Kandy who beat St Joseph’s College Colombo by 19 points to 10 while the Bowl championship was bagged by Ananda College Colombo who beat Thurstan College by 22-nil in the final.
