Fake Rs 1,000 notes seized

Anuradhapura Division Anti Vice Squad seized 35 counterfeit notes printed as new thousand rupee notes, and arrested two suspects who were in possession of them at a house at Udagama, Kiralogama in Thambuttegama yesterday.

On a tip off received by SSP Nandana Wickramaratne, the Police also apprehended a scanner printer, special banknote paper along with the suspects.

Police said that the suspect house owner is an ex-Army personnel and the other is a resident of Katiyawa, track seven of Pokunugama, who had earlier been charged for many offences. IP Saman Kumara and a team led the raid and further investigations are in progress.
