CHILDREN
READ A BOOK WITH ME...:
Meet Matlida, the Tiny Genius!
Hi friends,
Would you like to meet an extraordinary little girl of just five
years? I’m sure you’ll find her a very interesting and brainy person.
She is very small, very smart and her name is Matilda.
This amazingly brilliant child Matilda’s story is brought to you by
the world famous children’s author Roald Dahl. Roald Dahl was born to
his Norwegian parents in 1916, in Wales. He was educated in England. He
has written a collection of wonderful children’s stories and poems. Some
of his best loved books are Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Charlie
and the Great Glass Elevator, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Enormous Crocodile,
The Witches and The Dirty Beasts.
The Puffin edition of Matilda is beautifully illustrated with funny
and eye catching pictures by Quentin Blake. Matilda is a winner of the
Children’s Book Award.
As I have told you before also, children’s books are not always meant
only for children. I believe Roald Dahl’s books can be enjoyed by adults
as well. When you read a book you could come across things you like and
dislike. No matter how famous an author is, no matter how much his/her
books are loved by people all over the world, you may not like it at
all. You should read freely and think about what you really feel about
the book no matter what others have to say about it. You could have
brilliant ideas you know, so don’t let them go unnoticed.
I must say that last week I re-read Matilda and thoroughly enjoyed
it, but honestly I cannot remember what I felt when I first read it as a
child many years ago. I wish I had written down my thoughts at that
point, so that I would’ve been able to compare the two experiences of
reading Matilda. That’s why I always tell you not to miss that chance.
It’s going to be very exciting.
When you read Matilda, ask yourself what you think of each character
in the book. Do you like them or dislike them, and why?
You may already know that some of Roald Dahl’s stories including
Matilda are made into movies. However, as I always tell you all, my
friends, please try to read the book first.
Okay then, I hope you will find Matilda and enjoy this amazing book
and many other stories and poems by Roald Dahl as well.
Have fun with Matilda till we meet again, next week. Bye for now!

Music

around.
Did you know that World Music Day is celebrated on June 21?
World music which is also known as Fete de la Musique was first
initiated by France.
The first music festival took place in 1982.
The goal of World Music Day is to make music popular in its various
styles. Several free music concerts are held worldwide.
World Music Day is celebrated in Australia, Belgium, Britain,
Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Costa Rica, Israel (in Tel-Aviv),
China, India, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Pakistan, Philippines,

I know most of you children love music and like to dance. Some of you
might be good in playing a particular instrument like the organ, piano
or guitar
So, this is your day, World Music Day.
