The government has increased the Korean employment quota to Sri Lanka
to 15,000 this year, Foreign Employment and Welfare Minister Dilan
Perera said.
He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Korean language
training programme at the Singapore Hall in Hambantota recently.
South Korea is providing employment opportunities to Sri Lankans
annually.
The training programme commenced under the patronage of Foreign
Employment and Welfare Minister Dilan Perera.
"Those who have been selected from the Korean Language Proficiency
Examination held last year, will be sent to Korea next year. Korean
language ability is compulsory for Korean jobs," the minister said.
All instructions will be given in Korean language for anyone seeking
employment.
Individuals who do not know Korean language will fail in finding work
in that country, the minister added.
"Therefore, the government has taken steps to send Sri Lankan workers
to Korea after providing Korean language skills," the minister pointed
out.
Southern Provincial Council members Ajith Rajapaksa and Gunasena
Wickramasinghe and Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment chairman
Kingsley Ranawaka also participated. |
