'President to open next Mihintale Aloka Pooja'

Agrarian Services and the Wildlife Minister S. M. Chandrasena said the next year Mihintale Lake House Aloka Pooja which is the 50th consecutive occasion of the programme will be opened by President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The minister said so following the inauguration of the third (final) day Lake House illumination programme on the summit of the Mihintale rock.

Anuradhapura District Secretary Mahinda Seneviratne participated.

Mihintale Raja Maha Vihara Chief Incumbent Ven Namalwewa Rathanasara Nayaka Thera performed religious observances.

Minister Chandrasena said the government will upgrade infrastructural facilities at the sacred zone including overall renovation of the interior road network on the advice of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
