Aid for tsunami-hit children in Japan

A Pinkama was held at the Nippon Centre to bless the Japanese who were affected by the tsunami. A Bank Account was also opened at the Peoples' Bank, Pita Kotte to collect aid for them.

The Sri Lanka-Nippon Educational and Cultural Centre (SNECC) is a Non Government Organization dedicated to support economically handicapped children for the development of their education over 25 years. Through the programme, 2,300 school children in 117 Regional centres and some university students in Sri Lanka are awarded scholarships with the sponsorship of Japanese foster parents. Fifteen Foster Parent families have been affected by the tsunami at Fukushima in Japan.

Present scholarship Holders and Past Students were informed of the situation through the Priests in charge of the Nippon Regional Centres.

Members of the Sri Lanka-Nippon Educational and Cultural Centre and well-wishers contributed for the cause.
