Sri Lanka to take legal action against Channel 4 - Minister Hakeem

Justice Minister Rauf Hakeem said Sri Lanka will take legal action against the ‘Channel 4’ television channel for telecasting a concocted and controversial video to damage Sri Lanka’s image abroad.

“Steps have already been taken in this direction at diplomatic level,” he said addressing the media after a meeting held with judges and lawyers at the Kandy Courts Complex on Thursday.

The minister said his ministry has also taken measures to set up 60 additional courts throughout the country, including the North and East, in an effort to prevent laws delays and accelerate the hearing of the heavy backlog of pending cases.
