Ex-LTTEers reintegrated
Ex-LTTE combatants who had undergone a rehabilitation process were
reunited with their families at a ceremony in Vavuniya.
Three hundred and twenty seven ex-cadres were reintegrated into
civilian life as the first batch of the total 866 who were
rehabilitated.
A cricket match, a tug-of-war competition and a musical show were
held as part of the ceremony under the theme 'We who come from the North
and South are united'. This ceremony was jointly organized by the Youth
Affairs and Skills Development, and the Rehabilitation and Prison
Reforms Ministries.
The cricket match was held at the Vavuniya Municipal Council ground
between the amalgamated team of the two ministries and the amalgamated
team of rehabilitated ex-cadres and youth clubs which was
enthusiastically viewed by all including the families of the ex-cadres. |
