Minister Weerawansa says:

'Opposition playing into hands of LTTE rump'

Construction, Engineering, Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa said that the Opposition is creating an environment for LTTE remnants abroad to make various accusations against the government.

He said the LTTE rump is in the practice of trying to exert pressure on Sri Lanka which succeeded in eradicating one of the most ruthless terrorist outfits in the world.

Addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony at Wijayaraja Wewa in Polonnaruwa, the minister said, LTTE activists abroad level various accusations against Sri Lanka for which the Opposition is extending its fullest support.

He said the US based Diaspora launched a protest against Sri Lanka last month while we staged a counter protest in New York.

These organizations try to tarnish Sri Lanka's image abroad and the Opposition is paying lip service to them.

People should be alert about conspiracies hatched against our motherland the Minister said.

Forty six houses will be constructed under the NHDA's Sevana programme at a cost of Rs 9 million.

The project is expected to be completed within six months.
