Bogus medical centre raided

The Kandy Police yesterday raided a bogus medical centre which had been in business for 20 years in Kandy city and close to the main police station.

They also took into custody a bogus doctor and seized equipment valued at over Rs one million.

The police had also taken into custody two females who were working as nurses and had seized over 75 varieties of drugs worth millions of rupees from the location.

According to Police, the centre attracted a large number of patients daily. Police said illegal abortions were also carried out at the centre.

According to sources, the bogus medical centre had been able to carry out their illegal operations over a long period due to help from influential persons.

The Police are investigating.
