New CEB chairman, directors to start work tomorrow

Prof. Wimaladharma Abeywickrama has been appointed Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) chairman after the chairman and Director Board resigned on June 6.

The new Director Board will resume duties on June 9, ministry Media Coordinator Danushka Ramanayake said.

According to Ramanayake, Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka has appointed Nihal Wickramasuriya as the new General Manager of the CEB. He will resume duties on June 9. The new CEB chairman had been the Central Environment Authority and Nuclear Energy Authority chairman. The new General Manager joined the institution in 1977 as an electrical engineer and held many top posts in the CEB before being appointed the new General Manager.

The former chairman and the Director Board had stated that they were able to revive the CEB which faced many difficulties with huge debts and also organize a sports festival and arts festival for CEB workers.
