Wet weather till September:

Anuradhapura pilgrims need not worry

Occasional showers with fairly strong winds can be expected in the South West quarter of the country till September due to the activation of the South West monsoon, said Meteorological Department Meteorologist in charge D A Jayasinghearachchi.

He said that due to the South West monsoon, Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and Galle and Matara districts will experience occasional showers while it can also spread to Hambantota and Kurunegala districts due to the winds.

People planning to go on pilgrimage to Anuradhapura need not worry as Anuradhapura will not be affected by the South West monsoon, Jayasinghearachchi said.
