Media should project Mahinda Chintana success - Media Minister
Mahinda Chintana is the key programme of work being implemented for
the development of the country. It is the duty of all to make it
successful. It is also the responsibility of the state media
institutions to project the success of the Mahinda Chintana and to stand
for it.

Acting in this way is not tantamount to indulging in politics but it
is a great contribution being made to popularize the development of the
country, said Mass Media and Information Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.
He said this during a discussion at his ministry last morning with
the new chairman of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation Mohan
Samaranayake and the senior management of the Rupavahini Corporation
about the future activities of the corporation.
The minister said that the Rupavahini Corporation is one of the prime
institutions among the state institutions in the country.
“Its employees could proudly say that they are employees of the
Rupavahini Corporation. But every employee should perform their duties
concurrent to that pride,” he said.
Reminding the saying that “the human being is the most intelligent
animal,” the minister said that it is natural to have problems and
conflicts when there are about 1,000 persons working in an institution.
He said that it is common to the Rupavahini Corporation as well.
The minister emphasized when problems and conflicts do take place, it
should not be allowed to get out of hand and it should be settled within
the framework of the Institution while protecting the good image of the
institution.
Rambukwella said that all state media institutions made a great
effort to popularize the Mahinda Chintana and pointed out that through
these efforts, a massive contribution could be made for the country’s
development.
He said that he does not see popularizing the Mahinda Chintana as
working for political party, and as it is the only agenda for the
development of the country, endeavouring to make it successful is
equivalent to making the national development programme successful.
Ministry Secretary W.B. Ganegala and Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation
Chairman Mohan Samaranayake also spoke.
