MillenniumIT wins Regional Award for Partner Excellence

At the Check Point Indian subcontinent Partner Sales Kick Off 2011
held in Goa, India, attended by over 150 partners from across the

2010 for the SAARC region based on their superior technical skills and
commercial success.

WSO2 to expand global footprint

With the recently received fund of US $ 6.5 million, WSO2 is planning
to expand its businesses while further expanding its global footprint.
The company recently opened an office in California and will setup
another office in New York by the end of the year. The funding round was
led by Quest Software Inc. and joined by investor-Intel Capital.
WSO2 CEO Dr Sanjiva Weerawarna said the company has performed
steadily during the past five years. The company will use the funds to
expand its global operations; grow its Silicon Valley based marketing,
sales and support teams and extend its Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS)
offerings to support the rapid increase in global demand for its open
source middleware platforms.
The company has performed significantly during the past five years.
The company was able to perform steadily even during the recession. WSO2
during last year has doubled its business, while recording a growth of
95 percent. This year the company expects to grow at around 80 to 90
percent. The company has over 125 employees at present. With the
expansion of the company; they hope to recruit around another 50; which
consists 30 engineering employees and 20 marketing employees by the end
of the year, he said.
“Our company has been recognized by pragmatic global leaders in
business and technology such as Gartner and Forrester. While competing
with companies such as IBM and Oracle the recognition received is a
great achievement of the company. The recognition also helps to attract
more customers to the company, while enhancing the brand in the global
arena,” Weerawarna said.
“An enterprise investing on technology is a high cost and a long-term
investment. With the implementation of new technology in a company; the
clients expect smooth functioning and convenience, which WSO2 have been
capable of providing to our customers,” he said.
“This year we will introduce new products such as complex event
processing and the massage broker. Having a differentiated product
portfolio has helped the company to outstand among other competitors.
Thus, the company is practicing many research and development (R and D)
activities with having an innovative marketing strategy to compete
globally.
WSO2 caters to a world outstanding clientele such as eBay, Deutsche
Bank, Mercedes Benz, Prudential, BBC, Microsoft, British Airways and
many others.
He said to boost up the ICT industry in Sri Lanka creativity, value
additions, innovation and a proper structure of salary scales is
essential.

Apple’s ‘iClouds’ launched
Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs on Monday interrupted his medical
leave to unveil a free service called iCloud that stores music, photos
and other content on the Web and shares it across multiple devices.
“We’re going to move the digital hub to the cloud,” the 56-year-old Jobs
told software developers at Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers
