Sahan does well in England

The Sri Lankan youth cricketer Sahan Wijeratne has performed well
with both bat and ball during the early matches of the England Minor
County Championship this year. Sahan, who plays for the Caistor Town
Cricket Club has scored 92 in the first match and followed it with 84
not out with 4/35 with the ball in the second match.

Sahan has represented the same club in the previous year and struck
two fine centuries and 12 half tons. His knock of 146 not out was his
highest score and the match bag of 5/33 was his best bowling figures
during the 2010 county matches with a total of 1400 runs in 18 innings
while maintaining average of over 100.
In the local limited over premier Tier ‘A’ tournament Sahan scored 91
runs for Baduraliya Sports Club against Lankan Cricket Club and struck
two half centuries over Ragama SC and Saracens SC. He also claimed 2/33
against NCC with the ball.
After his performances in the Premier limited over tournament, he was
selected for the Wayamba Province team and bagged 3/34 against Ruhunu
team. He was a member of the Seylan Bank team which won the Mercantile
Cricket Championship this year. |
