Rajans stun Science

Dharmaraja College, Kandy created one of the major up sets this season when they beat giant killers Science College, Mount Lavinia by 22 points (2 goals, 1try, 1 penalty) to 19 (2 goals, 1 try) in their Schools under 20 Division One Rugby Tournament match played at the Bogambara Stadium, Kandy yesterday. At half Rajans led 7-0. It was in the 31st minutes Rajans three quarters moved the ball and fly half Tillina Wijesinghe collecting the ball sprinted 40 meters to score under the post and added the extra points himself.

In the 6th minute of the second half an infringement by Science College saw Tillina Wijesinghe convert a 35 meter penalty.

Four minutes later centre Buwanka Udangamuwa with a short burst of speed scored for right which went unconverted. Rajans led 15-0.

In the 11th minute Science College reduced the lead through winger Hashan Madurnaga who scored for left and full back Ashan Malik added the extra points

In the 25th minute Rajans scored what could be turned as the match winning try when their full back Kavinda Hettiarachchi intercepted a pass and spirited 45 metres to score under the post. Tillina Wijesinghe added the extra points Rajans 22-7.

Science College further reduced the lead through centre Andrew Bradly and scrum half Prince Chamara added the extra points.
