Army destroy New Youngs SC

Sri Lanka Army who played a superb game of Football in the quarter final of the Holcim FA Cup yesterday at Police park came out with a superb performance to out play the New Youngs Sc from Wennappuwa six goals to nil.

This victory also paved the way for Sri Lanka Army to go through the semi fianl..

New Youngs Sc which had the services of a Nigerian and a Italian could not cope challenge posed by the Soldiers.

The Army team played well combined game specially the strikers did their part well to score when ever they got the opprtunity to do so.

M.Isadeen together with crafty M.Fasal, Madushan and Wasantha Kumar played extremely well for the Army.

Wasantha Kumar opened scoring for the winners and later M Faza found the net twice to go for lemons with score reading 3-0.

After the break Army's superb team work and attacking football saw Madushan N. Ubeyasiri (2 ) and M. Isadeen (1) score to make the total 6-0.

Ratnams lodge protest

Ratnams SC who lost to Nandimittra SC (Civil Security Force) team on Thursday in a Holcim FA Cup Pre quarter final 1 goal to 0 at which was played at the Police Park had lodged an official protest. The protest is over a Nanadimittra player's registration. The tournament Committee of FFSL will is to inquire in to the matter in due course.
