Environmental catastrophe:

Clock is ticking, warns Sri Lanka YMCA

Sri Lanka YMCA has launched a Save the Environment Campaign this month when all countries conduct programmes to educate the masses on preserving the environment.

Coinciding with its Founders Day on June 6, YMCA has declared June as the Month of Green to stop the exploitation of the environment to prevent an environment apocalypse that will bring an end to the universe. The YMCAs will promote environment awareness and encourage people’s participation to preserve the nature for our future and the next generation.

YMCAs are to work with their area schools, neighbourhoods and communities on collective programmes. Collective tree planting, clean-up campaigns, collecting and disposing plastic bags and non-biodegradable waste in safer places, walk to work or schools to save energy and collectively switching off electrical appliances for a specific period etc are some of the activities.

Area religious leaders have come forward to support and take part in this campaign. contact 011-2447331 for details.
