Sri Lanka Tourism Awards 2010:
Best Tourism Website award for iconic Heritage Hotel
We keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things,
because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths, is
indeed the sentiments of GM Anura Dewapura, who have dominated the Best
Tourism Website for Year 2010 in the Marketing Communications category.

As Sri Lanka Tourism announced that an iconic heritage hotel has
achieved Best Tourism Website of the year 2010 it shows that MLH is
actually focusing on global trends and indeed relying a great deal on
what people are in tune to. A corporate recognition and achieving ‘Gold’
by competing in the corporate criteria in the “Best Web” competition of
Year 2010 did not stop them.
This web based competition in 2010 provided an exclusive opportunity
to promote and popularize the Sri Lankan websites and showcase the Sri
Lankan web identity online, and MLH was proud to achieve Gold with big
corporate giants bagging second and third.
“Though we are not a corporate hotel, Mount Lavinia Hotel has proved
to be the best in the corporate criteria because we at MLH believe
reliance in cyberspace will only continue to grow in the years ahead,
and it only proves our efforts,” Anura said at the big win.
“While we’ve refined the design, cleaned up the layout, improved
‘search’, expanded the journalistic mission: the real change is in the
approach to make it user friendly and to help readers quickly and easily
make sense of Mount Lavinia Hotel, a wider view of what makes Mount
Lavinia unique from the rest of Sri Lanka’s hotel properties and indeed
the 200 years of history that is instilled in the walls of the building,
connecting them with why Mount Lavinia Hotel stands out from the from
the rest.
“In many ways, it is the new website’s mission that is set for
ourselves to reach our overall vision; to be the premier colonial
heritage hotel in the region.
The main objective of the new website is to directly engage you with
the experience of the hotel which is indeed Sri Lanka’s vibrant history
amalgamated to global trends that people would like to experience,” they
said.
The new website provides enhanced access to information about the
hotel.
A clearer structure, simplified navigation and improved search
functions, make finding information easier than before. While occasional
users of the site will benefit from the improved navigation menus, more
frequent visitors will benefit from the “Lavinia Gifts” menu that
provides a shopping phenomenon, ‘One Stop Shop’ to all your wedding
needs. The connections and the fast access to ‘travel tips’ when in the
country and indeed a click away from Sri Lanka Tourism’s website,
support their efforts to the overall economy to the tourism sector. |
