Soba Ru marks World Environment Day
To mark the World Environment Day which falls on June 5, the National
Association of Photographers - Sri Lanka (NAPSL) will conduct its
Member’s Photographic Exhibition on environment Soba Ru today (June 3)
and will continue till Sunday June 5 at the National Art Gallery in
Colombo 7.
“The environment is an area of great concern to many and in an
attempt to create awareness to protect this bountiful treasure, the
NAPSL is indeed proud of conducting its Members Photographic Exhibition
to mark the World Environment Day,” NAPSL Executive Director Wimal
Amaratunge said when speaking about the event,

The exhibition will be declared open by University of Colombo
Department of Zoology Environmental Science Professor Sarath Kotagama
and will be open to public free of charge.
The theme of the 2011 World Environment Day is ‘Forests -Nature at
Your Service.’
The NAPSL expects the participation of a large contingent of its
members, set to showcase nature, using the visual language of
photography. The NAPSL marked 30 years of its existence in 2010.

The NAPSL was founded in 1980 as a voluntary organization with the
patronage of the Cultural Affairs Ministry in order to popularize the
art of photography among Sri Lankans.
To achieve this goal the NAPSL regularly organizes photographic
workshops, courses, annual competitions and exhibitions.
NAPSL is governed by an executive committee elected annually by its
members. Membership is open to all Sri Lankans who are interested in
photography. |
