'Ayush' schols for Lankan students

The Government of India has offered ten scholarships for Sri Lankan
students under the 'Ayush Scholarship scheme' in the National Homeopathy
Institute in Kolkata, West Bengal.
The duration of the entire course is five and half years. According
to the Higher Education Ministry, the scholars after completion of
course will be eligible to be professional homeopathy doctors in Sri
Lanka. Undergraduates who have passed the GCE A/L examination in
Physics, Chemistry, and Bio Science in one sitting will be eligible to
apply for the course. The total sum of marks should be 50 percent or
more, while the age limit should be between 18 and 28 years. A
sufficient knowledge of English is essential as the course is being
conducted in English, Ministry sources said.
Candidates would be selected for scholarships by the High Commission
of India in consultation with the Higher Education Ministry for pursuing
studies in different universities in India and applications have been
invited from eligible candidates through the Ministry of Higher
Education.
All scholarships would cover full tuition fees, while a monthly
sustenance allowance would be paid for the entire duration of the
course. The scholarship also covers an accommodation allowance and an
annual grant for books and stationery. Besides, all scholars while in
India, would be provided with healthcare facilities.
Candidates interested in applying for the scholarships could send in
their Bio-data including date of birth, age, a contact number,
educational qualifications, the year of the examination along with
copies of certified educational certificates to Malkanthi Ekanayake,
Additional Secretary, Ministry of Indigenous Medicine, No 325, Ayurvedic
Hospital, Dr. N M Perera Mawatha, Colombo 8, on or before June 10. The
applicants are requested to indicate as "Homeopathy Education Course-
2011" on the top left hand side of the envelope.
The selected candidates would be provided with one way air tickets by
the Ministry.
