CB houses EPF Department in Lloyd’s Building
The Central Bank of Sri Lanka expects to acquire property in Chatham
Street which belongs to the CWE.
Speaking to the media at the opening of the Lloyd’s Building
yesterday Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal said the Central
Bank will develop this property according to the needs of that area and
public can reap the real benefits of the property within a few years
time.
“We will develop another property in Trincomalee and expect to
acquire property in Jaffna to facilitate our operations around the
country.
“We have properties in Matale, Matara and Anuradhapura, he said. The
Central Bank of Sri Lanka purchased Lloyd’s Building in 2009 which was
owned by the United Ceylon Insurance Co. Ltd. The Central Bank renovated
this building and will locate its EPF Department in this premises. The
building was opened by the Defence Ministry Secretary Gotabhaya
Rajapaksa yesterday.
He said this Lloyd’s Building will reflect the transformation of the
country. Nobody believes that country could go through this kind of a
transformation and today the country has achieved fast economic growth.
