Facelift for Kelaniya home gardens

The Divisional Secretary's Office, Kelaniya in collaboration with the Agriculture Department has made arrangements to develop 10,000 home gardens in the area under the Divi Neguma programme.

It is implemented through the grama niladharis, agriculture research assistants and Samurdhi officers in each Grama Niladhari division.

Under this programme, vegetable seeds, fruit saplings, and manure are provided to householders free of charge. Technical assistance will also be provided.

Divisional Secretary, Kelaniya W H V Pushpamala said that most home gardens have been left uncultivated for a long period.

"The people are interested in developing their home gardens under this programme. I am sure this programme will be a success," she said.
