Concepts for a sociological teledrama

I wish to point out that the kind of teledrama that is being telecast through almost every channel barring TNL, Swarnavahini, Derana etc leaves very much to be desired by a cross section of a discerning public. I would refrain from mentioning the channels that telecast awful tele programms. I still remember as a school-boy watching remarkable films like D.W. Griffith’s Birth of a Nation (1915) that took audiences by storm.

Twelve reels long (almost three hours). It swept along with a cumulative force that a present day viewing of the film can only partially suggest its amazing significance the passions it aroused, the tensions it created lasted beyond the theatre.

It’s time that our television tele-dramatists visit our film archives to advance their knowledge.
